Ranna Eardley-Patel 

Biochemical Engineering EngD, 2008 

Dr Ranna Eardley-Patel works internationally as a technology transfer specialist and lead process engineer, designing and establishing new manufacturing facilities for industrial and philanthropic organisations. Her career path has taken her through consumer goods, nanotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, advanced therapies and vaccines.  

She was part of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine global technical operations team, completing the tech transfer from the University of Oxford and shepherding UK and Dutch partner organisations through commercial-scale production, as well as the first successful regulatory approvals. 

She was one of 10 technical specialists seconded from industry to the UK Vaccines Taskforce, to develop, procure and deploy vaccines to the UK, overseas territories and COVAX. Ranna became a Taskforce technical project lead, supporting multimillion-pound investments to sustainable vaccine manufacturing in the UK, as well as advising on supply chain, special ops logistics and immunoassay initiatives.
