Matthew Barzun 

UCL Honorary Fellow 

 Matthew Barzun served as the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2017 and was previously US Ambassador to Sweden. He was selected by President Barack Obama as National Finance Chair for the president’s 2012 re-election campaign, during which time he pioneered new ways for people to have a stronger voice in politics.  

He graduated from Harvard College in 1993 and helped build CNET Networks. He is the author of a book on leadership, The Power of Giving Away Power. Matthew received an Honorary Fellowship from UCL in 2018, in recognition of his extraordinary professional achievements and for championing the US-UK relationship.
