Anjhula Mya Singh Bais 

Theoretical Psychoanalytic Studies MSc, 2006 

Dr Anjhula Mya Singh Bais is an international psychology trauma specialist and was elected Chair of the International Board of Amnesty International last year. She is a Global Risks Perception Subject Matter Expert for the World Economic Forum, sits on the Covid Sector Mobilisation Platform (an initiative between the World Health Organisation and World Economic Forum) and is a consultant to boards of multinational corporations on behaviour, risk and culture. 

She was a recipient of the American Psychological Association (APA) Global Citizen Psychologist Citation in 2020 and is a Fellow of the Apolitical Academy, as well as featuring on lists of the world’s most influential people. As well as a master’s from UCL, Anjhula holds degrees from Colombia, Harvard and Oxford universities, Lady Shri Ram College of the University of New Dehli and the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. 

Anjhula’s work involves the climate crisis, mental health, human rights, leadership and strategic thinking through a feminist lens. She is a current representative for the Division of Social Justice of the APA and former chair of languages of its International Psychology Division, the youngest board member of the Institute of Semitic Studies at Princeton and former chair of Amnesty International Malaysia. She has represented Concern Worldwide on international missions and been People to People Citizen Ambassador to Rwanda for genocide reconciliation research. She is a peer reviewer for the American Psychologist and Humanistic Psychologist journals and had a weekly listenership of 1 million people on her radio show Mind Matters.
